• Assisted in various tasks at Habitat’s ReStore in San Carlos, CA. The ReStore sells donated home improvement supplies and goods with proceeds being used for other Habitat for Humanity building projects.

-Assisted in the nomination of the Goldstein-Sheets Residence in Los Angeles by
prominent Southern Californian architect John Lautner. The nomination process
included research and creation of a narrative, statement of significance, and
production of a set of as-built drawings of the home.

SurveyLA: The Los Angeles Historic Resources Survey/Los Angeles Office of Historic Resources, Pomona, CA, US, Student Volunteer

-Assisted the Los Angeles Office of Historic Resources in documenting various homes
in the Boyle Heights neighborhood in Los Angeles for consideration as a Historic
Preservation Overlay Zone (HPOZ). The nomination process included the production
of DPR (Department of Parks and Recreation) forms that documented a particular
building’s architectural style, construction materials, and historical integrity.

• Aided in the redesign of basement restrooms to provide
accessibility according to the Americans With Disabilities Act
• Assisted in editing red marks on various parts of the building.

• Converted original blueprints into compatible AutoCAD
format, which enabled the redesign of portions of the building.
• ADA renovation of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Middle School
• Aided on site work analysis of school exterior to determine
whether existing door widths met ADA regulations.

The Bachelor of Architecture degree is offered in a five-year curriculum, which focuses on the design laboratory. The studio sequence consists of four segments: a three-year basic core, a four quarter group of topic studios taken jointly by fourth and fifth year students, a fourth year urban design studio and a culminating senior project. Lecture classes in Architecture Theory and History, Human Behavior, Programming, Sustainability, Building Technology, Structures, Codes and Digital Media are closely coordinated with the studio sequence, and students are expected to demonstrate their knowledge of these areas in their design projects.
