Water consumption has been drastically reduced through the development of reclaiming methods, taking advantage of slurries and water-based suspensions to replace the water formerly needed in the manufacturing process, thus ensuring almost zero dumping. By extension, this has reduced municipal investment into infrastructure that would otherwise be needed to treat this waste, thus contributing toward overall sustainability.
Tile manufacturing is based on the application of pressure and heat to raw materials. By integrating cleaner energies, like natural gas, into the process and by using alternative methods to obtain them, such as cogeneration techniques (introduced by the ceramic tile industry years ago), another big contribution has also been made to the sustainability of the tile manufacturing process.
