The programmatic conditions in instututional childcare lack the nurturing and stimulating environment that children need for a healthy psychological development.
Theses facilities are institutionalized and lack the idea of a home. Although children are in these spaces for temporary periods, only 30% get adopted yearly and the other children are forced to make these buildings their childhood homes.
This thesis aims to redefine the environment that destitute children call home by bringing life into the building’s surroundings and engaging with the community.
