Exhibition Design-Built Management In the cultural sector I have honed my ability to simultaneously manage multiple design-built projects across international borders with high profile artists. In a single year I managed the design and construction of an Ai Weiwei exhibition at Doha Fire Station, a German Design exhibition at Al Riwaq Gallery in Qatar, and an exhibition of Qatari artists in Berlin, Germany. I designed and managed to completion an exhibition in St. Petersburg, and managed the construction of another exhibition in Moscow, Russia. Other projects included overseeing the construction of exhibitions for Rem Koolhaas, Kaws, and El Anatsui, working closely with the artist teams, managing contractors, troubleshooting, sourcing materials and equipment, and overseeing the build.

My perceptive consultant screening and contract negotiations along with exacting scheduling, client communications, and documentation ensure that end user requirements are met through timely deliverables throughout the design and construction phases. At Qatar’s Ashghal Public Works Authority my major projects as a design manager included 50,000m2 central offices and training facilities for the Qatar Ports Authority, and the design of three 2,400 m2 mosques with parking and Imam housing. In each case, through careful selection and management of the firm design process, I was able to complete all the needed construction projects in under two years.

My refined design sense and currency with relevant codes, combined with awareness of environmental and budget impacts of design choices have been developed through more than 15 years of experience developing residential, commercial, and community designs in three countries. Building from redesigning interiors for a bank and flight path sound abatements at Kennard Design, through designing three 60 home Army housing neighbourhoods across the US for Niles Bolton, I opened my own design firm, Studio of Sustainable Solutions in 2009.
