My name is Sylvester Hampton and I am a designer based in Houston, TX. I graduated in 2017 with a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee.
Mark Porreca Custom Build LLC., Milwaukee, WI, US, Carpenter
I moved to Houston 5 days before hurricane Harvey hit, and I was forced to move back to Milwaukee to try to save up enough money to move back. Mark Porreca, a friend of a friend, heard about what had happened and invited me to work for him as long as I needed to save.
Under his management, I was responsible for doing basic carpentry work; single family residential housing was the majority of his clients at the time. I worked closely with many power-tools and learned the basics of construction. On my website I have images of the finished work that I helped get to completion.
School of Architecture and Urban Planning, University of Wisconsin Milwaukee, Milwaukee, WI, US, Wood & Metals Shop Technician
I was responsible for teaching students the proper ways to use and handle all of the power tools. I also knew how to program the CNC, laser cutters, and 3D printers. I would help teachers and students complete an array of time-sensitive projects over the 3 years.
University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Milwaukee, BArch, Architecture
I attended UWM for 4 years with the intention to graduate with a degree in architecture. I have taken a variety of courses which furthered my knowledge of design programs. I feel comfortable designing in AutoCAD, Revit, Rhino, and have a basic understanding of Sketch-up. And I would classify myself as proficient in the adobe creative suite.
