HUB Furniture Lighting Living, Melbourne, AU, Design Consultant
HUB Furniture Lighting Living is a high-end furniture and lighting retailer with showrooms in both Melbourne and Sydney, Australia, representing the finest in Italian designer furniture.
Although technically a sales roll, I was employed as a design consultant for HUB on full scale fit outs both commercial and residential. I attended meetings, gave client presentations, created and coordinated FF&E schedules, liaised with suppliers both international and local in forming purchase orders, tracking and ensuring time restraints and budgets were met. This required me to be highly organized and utilize not only my computer design package skills (Adobe Creative Suite, AutoCAD) but my MS Suite skills to ensure deadlines were met and consistent lines of communication flowed.
Throughout this I maintained regular rotating shifts on the showroom floor, meeting, greeting and assisting walk in customers.
I was in charge of our extensive sample, catalog, and price list library. This required me to be very methodical and systematic in my filing and tracking to ensure the entire staff had what they needed and when they needed it.
The roll required extensive knowledge of product including specifying and detailing joinery, as well as fabrics and finishes to create a cohesive package to present to clients. Thinking on my feet during meetings was also very important as time in front of the client was at a premium.
