About

I have earned my Master of Urban Design from the University of Michigan and my undergraduate degree in Architecture from Mumbai University. I currently work as a Architectural Designer for Philip Toscano Architects. As an Architectural Designer at Philip Toscano Architects, I currently serve as project manager. I have been managing multiple projects including Landmarks facade renovation and ADA ramp projects. These projects have given me an opportunity to work directly with the LPC preservationists. This experience has helped me to better understand how designing a combination of modern and perserved is a crucial element in a maintaining and creating the fabric of New York City. I have also been project manager on some interior store renovations projects and facade renovations. I have learnt a lot about DOB, DOT and Landmarks filings through these projects. This position has broaden my understanding between designing on board to actual implementation on site. It has made me more aware about the real estate policies of New York city.

As a junior urban designer at Landscape Architecture firm, MKW Associates, I was part of a team responsible for the design of various New York City Parks and other public and open-space projects. This position has strengthened me as a team player as well as a designer as I was exposed to a wide variety of projects that involve careful study about interaction between open spaces and the communities surrounding. I became more sensitive towards sustainable designing through this position.

All of my projects from Bachelors to Masters to work experience, has helped me realize that every light pole contributes to the fine development and every paver installed helps us to walk. My experience in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, Urban Design and Preservation has broadened my knowledge about designing structures and spaces that retrofit in the existing urban fabrics with modern and sustainable ideas.
