Hello, my name is Shenaia Turner and I'm a multidisciplinary designer from Los Angeles, California, USA. I've worked in architecture, computation and AI, digital fabrication, and sometimes photography for the last decade. I have a Bachelor's degree in Architecture from the University of Southern California and a Master's degree of Science in Design with a focus on Robotics and Autonomous Systems at the University of Pennsylvania. I am a passionate and innovative designer with an interest in combining computation within the workflow and design of architecture and a commitment to creating spaces that inspire and captivate.
University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, US, Part-Time Lecturer
Taught students the materials, machines, and design knowledge on how robots work, how to problem solve, plan, set them up, and design their own end effectors. Taught how to use end effectors in a applicable way to inform design processes. Taught the seminar in three phases: Multi-pen robotic scanning and drawing, Hotwire cutting, and dual-robotic pick and placement.
University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia, PA, US, ARI Robotics Lab Operator
Operated and maintained advanced robotic systems, including ABB IRB4600-60 floor and track robots, ABB IRB120 robots, and UR-10e robots. Performed daily operations and routine maintenance of robotic equipment. Assisted in installing, testing, and maintaining equipment.
Brooks + Scarpa, Los Angeles, CA, US, Junior Designer
Managed design and technical production in all phases while coordinating with project teams, clients, and consultants.
Gensler, Los Angeles, CA, US, Research Fellow
Conducted research on innovative design solutions, focusing on the Future of Professional Services offices addressing challenges to redefining the future of cities.
University of Southern California - Digital Fabrication Labs, Los Angeles, CA, US, Digital Fabrication Lab Operator
Taught students how to use laser cutting, 3D modeling, and CNC milling machinery. Designed with 3D model making software, materials, and machines for various USC School of Architecture projects.
City of Los Angeles - Bureau of Engineering, Los Angeles, CA, US, Student Architect
Supported a small project management team within the architecture division in the bureau to prepare guidelines and EIR requirements for a civic project near LA City Hall. Participated in site visits and collected analysis for digital models for a project in Lincoln Heights using Rhino3D and Revit. Through this internship I gained NCARB experience for Project Management and Programming and Analysis.
PBWS Architects, Pasadena, CA, US, Architectural Intern
Supported a small 20 member firm of architectural designers to provide educational projects for the City of Pasadena and Fairfax using Revit and AutoCAD. Participated in visits to educational sites for analysis to prepare architectural drawings for renovation. Through this internship I gained NCARB experience for Project Development and Documentation.
