About

Founded in 2016, SMLA is a speculative practice in design at all scales. The practice includes projects in urban contexts, public realm, residential, commercial, exhibitions and other forms of objects.

Our work emerges out of a close examination in culture and the built environment that informs our society; of which this practice holds all projects with equal significance.

We think of architecture as objects that we objectify onto the world through different mediums and how agency searches for the Middles between the familiar and defamiliarization simultaneously. We position architecture within the discourse of Middles emerged in society through the inside and outside, public and private, and researching fictions in search for new truths. It is the Middles that test and inform volume and formal conditions in practice and the city.
