SHADE Institute is Hawaii's first public interest design organization.  Public interest design is a growing sector of non-profit and pro-bono practice in the planning architectural and engineering fields around the world. The Institute's mission is to provide community-based planning and design through intern training and professional mentorship to underserved communities and other non-profit organizations.
