The premise of this Master of Urban Design Thesis is to propose the design and development of the Southern Railway corridor in the center of the Charleston, South Carolina’s Upper King Street District. Because of the close proximity of the Southern Railway corridor to the most import district (Upper King Street District) in Charleston, South Carolina, there is a need to establish a sustainable master plan that will provide connection between the two districts. This thesis will propose a sustainable development that includes the appropriate land-use model, energy and environmental conservation policies, and cultural and social development embedded within the new urbanism design model. The outcome will support, enhance, maintain appropriate growth and development model that will further enhances the successful urban development of Charleston, South Carolina.
