Watch This Wall

Coinciding with the demolition of Bronte House and Fielding House, Brent Council and Network Housing Group commissioned urban strategists Scout to create an installation on the temporary wall alongside the Cambridge Road construction site.

Local residents were invited to design a chair that could be assembled without tools and whose design could be extensively adapted. Over multiple engagement sessions, residents worked on these chair variations to design their own unique chair design. They selected or developed bespoke designs for the legs, chairs and backs within this template. In total over 65 residents took part.

These chair designs were then CNC cut into marine ply panels and displayed on the construction hoarding for 4 months, each credited to the specific designer.

On July 5th we held a launch party during which residents came and collected their chairs. The designs were fantastic and truly imaginative!
