Knoxville, TN
KNOXVILLE — The College of Architecture and Design at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will host an open house on Friday, Oct. 5.
The event, from noon to 7 p.m., will give prospective undergraduate and graduate students the opportunity to learn about the college's programs in interior design, landscape architecture and architecture. Each program is accredited and is the highest ranked program of its kind in Tennessee.
Participants are encouraged to register by Oct. 1.
The open house also will offer potential students from high schools and universities from across the country opportunities to meet current students and faculty and learn about the integrative, hands-on experiences unique to the college's programs.
Open house activities will be held in the award-winning UT Art and Architecture Building and will include presentations by faculty, tours of facilities and opportunities for discussions with student leaders and program chairs. Participants also will visit the design studios during class time to witness the typical student experience, as well as see projects completed across all of the college's disciplines and levels of study.
The day's activities will close with a visit to the college's multidisciplinary, design-build project, the Living Light House. The solar-powered home that placed eighth in the world at the 2011 U.S. Department of Energy Solar Decathlon is presently on display at the UT Gardens. A reception at the Ewing Gallery, featuring the drawing exhibition, "Pencil Push," will follow.
