"GOMBAK: The 111-year-old Perak House conservation and resettlement project was successfully completed by a group of lecturers and students of Kuliyyah Architecture and Natural Design (KAED), International Islamic University Malaysia (IIUM).
The resettlement project which began in June 2017 and completed in March was inspired by IIUM President Tan Sri Dr Rais Yatim.
Rais said the project aims to ensure the design and development of Malay society in the past can be preserved and developed by institutions or agencies within the country such as universities.
"This initiative is expected to preserve such a house so that it can be used as a reference for future generations, including students and researchers who are interested in the architecture of the Malay community.
"In addition, the university can make the Perak House as a tourist location for visitors or guests, especially from overseas universities," he said in his opening speech at the Perak House here today.
The Perak House's work is chaired by the Dean of KAED, Prof. Ar. Abdul Razak Sapian with a group of lecturers, staff and students."
