Architect Peter Bohlin, FAIA, is scheduled to speak Wednesday evening, May 1 2013, at NewSchool of Architecture and Design on the topic of “Soft Modernism – The Nature of Circumstance” as part of the San Diego school’s lecture series that brings inspiring and innovative  designers and architects from around the world. The event is free and open to the public.

Lecture Topic: Soft Modernism – The Nature of Circumstance. Using examples of the firm’s work from early to current projects, Peter will discuss the rich and powerful buildings of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson that resulted from The Nature of Circumstance.  These range from the nature of places, both man-made and natural, to the varied nature of humans and their particular activities and to the nature of the means  with which we build.  

When: May 1, 2013. 6 p.m. Q & A follows lecture.

Where:  NewSchool of Architecture and Design Auditorium.  1249 F Street, San Diego, CA  92101. **Priority seating given to NSAD students, staff and alumni.  About the Architect: Peter Bohlin, FAIA, is founding principal of Bohlin Cywinski Jackson and recipient of the 2010 Gold Medal of The American Institute of Architects . Bohlin Cywinski Jackson, founded in 1965, has offices in Wilkes-Barre, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, Seattle and San Francisco. The firm has received more than 550 regional, national and international awards for design. In 1994, the practice received the Architecture Firm Award from the American Institute of Architects.
