Help a team of NewSchool of Architecture and Design (NSAD) students complete 12-feet-tall modular benches that will be featured at the Art San Diego 2013 Contemporary Art Fair! Contribute to their Kickstarter campaign by Sept. 24, and in return get your name laser etched on the benches, receive a small scale replica of the design - or get two VIP tickets to the Fair.
The Art San Diego Fair is the first and only contemporary art fair in San Diego, and more than 13,000 people are expected to attend Nov. 7-10. This year the Fair is collaborating with several partners to demonstrate sustainable approaches for temporary events. The students - who are part of the Numisius Colony of Alpha Rho Chi Fraternity at NSAD - are part of this collaboration, as well as ECOR® Noble Technologies, which produces a variety of non-toxic, recyclable new design materials for consumer, commercial and other uses.
The NSAD students are creating modular benches for the Fair’s center lounge area that will complement an ECOR seating design, providing contrast that reflects the Fair’s theme of “collision.” Students have integrated sustainable approaches into their own parallel design through re-usable strategies and minimizing the waste of source building material. NSAD has pledged separate funding to the project, and the students are also launching a Kickstarter campaign to cover additional anticipated costs, such as lighting and other materials.
