CLEMSON— Clemson University School of Architecture and AIA South Carolina were awarded a 2014 national AIA Component Excellence Award for "Kids in Architecture Workshops."

"AIA Excellence Awards are intended to remind the entire American Institute of Architects (AIA) community that many of the Institute’s best ideas and practices come from components and special member groups. Although not all components or member groups (i.e., knowledge communities and emerging professionals) are equal in terms of staffing or funding, the AIA recognizes that the accomplishments of its state and local organizations and member groups can be remarkable, regardless of their size or resources. All-volunteer components often offer remarkable member programs and activities that sometimes go unnoticed.

"AIA Component Resources and Collaboration will share best practices programs from the award-winning entries with AIA members through all available communication channels, including recognition at the 2014 Grassroots Leadership and Legislative Conference, on the AIA website, and in Component Updates."
