The Barcelona Institute of Architecture is pleased to present the second BIArch Open Lecture of the Fall 2011 term. The lecture, "The Joy of the Unexpected", will be delivered by Pere Riera, Founder and Principal of RGA Arquitectes and member of both the Board of Directors and Faculty at BIArch.
Pere Riera (Barcelona) graduated from the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona, and earned his PhD in 1987 from the U...niversitat Politècnica de Catalunya. He founded RGA Arquitectes in 1982, producing projects that have received much recognition such as the Década Prize in 2003, the Footbridge Award in 2005 and several nominations for the FAD Award between 1987 and 2009. His work has been published in numerous international journals including Bauwelt, Techniques et Architecture, Casabella, Tectónica, On Diseño and Quaderns. He has been involved in academia since 1971, teaching architecture and design in Barcelona at the Escola Eina, the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura de Barcelona and the Escola Tècnica Superior d’Arquitectura del Vallès and is considered one of the cultural and professional references for many generations of architects in the city.
Pere Riera will be introduced by architect Carlos Pita, with the lecture taking place on Friday, October 14th at 8:00pm in the Auditorium of “La Pedrera” (Passeig de Gràcia, 92). Attendance is free, but seating capacity is limited.
