Design Matters with Stephen Teeple

Thu, Nov 10 '11
Calgary, AB, CA

The Design Matters lecture series presents Stephen Teeple, principal of Teeple Architects Inc.

Teeple received his Bachelor of Architecture from the University of Waterloo in 1980. He became a Member of the Ontario Association of Architects (OAA) in 1988 and received his Master of Science in Building Design from Columbia University in New York City in 1989. In 1998 Stephen was awarded Fellow status at the Royal Architectural Institute of Canada and in 2006 was nominated to the Royal Canadian Academy of Arts.

Stephen’s current work explores the cultural dimension of sustainability in architecture; research that provokes the rethinking of his architecture. Environmentally conscious design is an integral consideration in the formulation of the architectural idea of each project, and in the spatial experience embodied in the completed work.

Through detailed illustrations of his recently completed and ongoing work, Teeple will address issues such as design process, sustainability, construction practices, urban design and economics in his lecture. He will explore the underlying themes that inform the work and present the critical factors that influence the final designs.

The lecture starts at 7 p.m. Thursday, November 10 in the event centre at the University of Calgary's downtown campus.

Admission is $5, students are free.
