This lecture, led by renowned urbanist Alejandro Echeverri, explores the transformation of Medellín through the innovative Social Urbanism strategy. From 2004 to 2010, Medellín’s urban planning efforts focused on improving impoverished neighborhoods riddled with violence. Echeverri will share the comprehensive urban processes that helped change the city’s trajectory, offering insight into the lessons learned from these collaborations. He will also discuss his current work at URBAM and the Center for the Future of Cities at Tecnológico de Monterrey, focusing on addressing environmental and urban challenges in emerging realities across Latin America.
