About

I specialize in Catholic church architecture across the United States, either as architect of record or design architect working with other firms. My work is very much in the "recovery of tradition", though not necessarily "stylistic" or "revivalism". Rather I take a broadly sacramental approach to church design, both in theory and in practice.  I also work in urban planning (new urbanism, smart growth, form based codes), master planning, and rezoning.

Among my projects are the new Our Savior Catholic Church at the University of Southern California, and the new Saints Anne and Joachim Catholic Church in Fargo ND.

I also write occasionally for various popular and academic journals on matters relating to architectural history and theory, theology, liturgy, art history, and I teach as my schedule permits.

If you or your firm is looking to go after Catholic church projects, I would enjoy discussing the possibility of a collaboration.
