Burrell F. Saunders, AIA and John H. Crouse, AIA led CMSS Architects, PC for 28 years. In 2010 they sold the firm to H & A Architects & Engineers, working there briefly. Deciding they could better pursue their passion for community planning and architecture on their own, they founded S+CA in summer 2013. The firm occupies 3,400 SF of an office building near the Town Center of Virginia Beach. The firm has 3 registered architects, architectural designers / interns, one graphic designer / illustrator, and one production / BIM coordinator, for a total of 12 employees and growing.

S+CA uses AutoCAD REVIT for all architectural design and production. Other software used include SketchUp, 3D Studio Max, Adobe Creative Suite, Newforma, and Open Asset for managing graphic images.
