Sasaki, a champion of integrated design rooted in the principles of innovation, collaboration, and stewardship, has opened its new Los Angeles studio. Bringing expertise in architecture, interior design, landscape architecture, planning and urban design, space planning, as well as civil engineering, this permanent presence bolsters Sasaki’s current work in the region.

A global practice with a commitment to human-centered design, Sasaki chose Los Angeles specifically because of its creative spirit, which aligns with the studio’s own ethos. “The new studio will build upon deep roots working alongside forward-thinking partners in California and throughout the West Coast. From NBCUniversal, where we helped design and implement a transformational plan for their creative campus, to the Port of LA, where we co-created a new approach to resilience and reestablished waterfront access for the local community,” says architect Ian Dickenson. “We are excited to grow our team and collaborate with more local partners to design visionary and resilient places.”

The Los Angeles studio collaborates closely across Sasaki’s practice to nurture an integrated vision for their projects. Home to leaders Ian Dickenson and Jerolim Mladinov, the Los Angeles studio is currently spearheading the re-envisioning of the Santa Monica Airport, which will establish a plan to convert the 227-acre site into a Great Park; a comprehensive plan for the Chadwick School; visioning work with the Huntington Library, Museums, and Botanical Gardens; the Tecnológico de Monterrey: Mexico City campus plan; a comprehensive campus plan for UC Berkeley; and more.

Sasaki recently completed the Port of LA’s Wilmington Waterfront Promenade, the second of a three-phase plan for a new public park, and was recently selected to work with the City of West Hollywood to advance housing guidelines and design standards.
