This project was funded by EPIC games grant, and there are two parts. First is to develop a plugin for architectural design platform for EPIC games, and second is to implement of Neural Network models and other means of AI to assist with many steps in design phase.
The project deals with UI design, Platform development, Research of precedents for AI utilization in architectural applications. There will be features like image-based Neural network model assisting with generation and placement of textures. and 3D geometry generation based on user mouse movement history and "gesture based" command in the game environment. The idea is that this plugin will be an interactive platform of collaboration for design process between human and machine. It is still in a proto-type phase and there will be more changes to come later in 2021.

This project was funded by Google AMI grant, and there are two parts. One is utilization of AI to cope with the site selection. There were many approaches were researched. One example was picking site for Affordable housing, and TOC. AI was used to create a platform to make correlation between the affordable housings and TOC in Los Angeles. Another example is placement of ADU. Using CycleGan, existing satelite images were transformed into high density residentials with addition of ADUs to test out the density changes and automatic placements of ADU. The second part is automation of ADU construction using "Customizable CLT panels". Based on the modular design layout for ADU, Cross-Laminated-Timber are placed automatically with agent-based assembly. The assembly considers structural integrity, and the directionality of the CLT panels. To optimize structure and construction, Finite Element Analysis was done, and calculated weight transfer to determine the CLT panel layout direction
