A Phoenix Reborn.

The PHX metro is fundamentally unsustainable, with no thought given to the resiliency of its residents.

Let's fix that.

The foundation of a truly resilient city is the circular economy - all material needs must be both produced and recovered locally, allowing a material to live out its full life cycle without ever leaving city limits. In the wake of unparalleled heat waves and crumbling supply chains, the only way forward is to eliminate sole reliance on the global scaled economy that has done so much to damage climate and communities.

On a broad scale this process begins by cutting ties with the Central Arizona Project, which provides 36% of the city’s water demand while holding us hostage to changing rainfall patterns across one of the continent’s most drought-prone watersheds. This dependence is negated by capping the metro population at 3 million - placing PHX in alignment with the carrying capacity of our local water system.

A network of resilience hubs across every square mile could empower freshly-densified neighborhoods to take part in their own production and waste reclamation.

By placing resiliency front and center in city planning, the PHX Metro can transition from Arizona’s largest importer, polluter, and waste generator into a production center built to withstand any future climate emergency.
