Thesis Final Project

The evolution of port cities briefly went from being defence fortresses in medieval times to centres of trade, warehousing and manufacturing. In the 1850’s, port Of Beirut expansion started taking the port’s boundaries beyond city boundaries but the relationship between the city and port remained very much an interdependent one.

How to stretch those boundaries and allow the citizens to approach their harbor ?

Is it possible to revive the relationship between the city and the port ? 

If so under what conditions and under what constraints?
