MY BACKGROUND
My name is Ryan Zawojski, I am a recent Landscape Architecture graduate from Philadelphia University or now known as Jefferson University, raised in Hawthorne, New Jersey. Landscape Architecture pulses through my veins, as a young boy I always found myself digging up various plant and hardscape material to create my own sense of place in my yard. My desire to explore different planting configurations were overpowering. Constantly, I would reconfigure my yard to make my own visions come to life. I enjoyed combining diverse plant communities because of the fascinating life it brought to my yard throughout the seasons. Through my own renderings, I would draw planting plans, pond installations, and patio solutions to quench my thirst for designing spaces.
MY STUDIES
During my studies at Philadelphia University, I have learned how to design systematically, as well as speak to communities about the work we do and how it may benefit their communities. Our studios harp on community based designs in pennsylvania, predominantly focused in west philadelphia. These encompass large scale planning, ecological restoration to small scale planting plans that focus on water mitigation.
MY INTERESTS
After reflecting upon my studies and various job experiences from the past couple years, I always find myself fascinated by community based design approaches. I am one to design by getting my hands dirty, which to me means really getting the opportunity to dive in and really get to understand a site. Therefore, I am looking for a job or internship that not only allows hands on experiences, but also inspires my love for the hybrid of large and small scale design projects. I believe I would be the right fit for a position on your team because I am driven by my passion of restoring not only the ecology that a landscape can provide, but also the beauty in which generates the connection between man and to our indigenous landscape.
