My name is Robert Morgan and I have recently earned a Bachelor of Science in Architecture from Scott Sutherland School of Architecture, Aberdeen. Eager to learn more I am looking for an entry level position that will allow my passion and creativity to thrive. I would love for my abilities to grow stronger with your firm so as to prepare myself for my RIBA Part 2 education.
Being a highly motivated and driven character to succeed in anything I take part in, I portray these attributes through many different fields. I am particularly interested in various aspects of the construction industry, predominantly Architecture. This has lead me to working towards and successfully becoming a student at the Scott Sutherland School of Architecture.
Architecture to me is a subject that is incomparable in importance compared to other industries. Through good design, architecture can have a massive influence on society, the community and most importantly the public. My personal approach to design embraces the entire design process; defining, research, development, presentation, feedback and improvement through critical analysis. Through communication, collaborative design and powerful presentations architecture can be accomplished to the highest standard. The skills that I bear include great team work, communication and hand drafting. My computer skills range from AutoCAD to the Adobe Creative Suite package. I’m also proficient in Revit, SketchUP and Vray. I bring to the table high energy, imagination, dedication and loyalty. In addition to my education in Architecture School I worked as an architectural assistant at Gaunt Francis Architects. Here I learnt the importance of client communication and getting work completed for deadlines.
Along with the above interest I am a keen sportsman, I particularly enjoy playing rugby and golf alongside middle distance athletics. My enjoyment of sport has lead me to completing the 2012 Virgin London Marathon along with many other sporting events.
Over all I feel I have numerous strong points and abilities due to a hard work ethic and determined nature, by experiencing the roles of a variation of job kinds, along the way I have picked up and developed all round skills from public speaking and dealing with fellow colleagues/students, to construction techniques.
I would love an opportunity to work for your firm, learn more about your company and its ethos towards architecture and share more about myself. Please visit my online portfolio which has examples of work and my CV. I can be reached anytime by phone or email and am happy to answer any questions. Can’t wait to hear from you in the near future.
Thank you for your time.
Tradax Group Ltd, Customer Support
My primary role was supporting other members of staff. This could have included contacting customers to arrange visits, updating data on various applications and general office administration.
Gaunt Francis Architects, Cardiff, Architectural Technician
During this 5 month period I helped in the office with ongoing projects. Mainly working in the design phase of the projects which ranged from a small house extension to large scale projects including a new office block for the Goldsmiths University, London. I gathered a new range of skills, it improved my knowledge in the language of Architecture, and most of all it taught me how to work and design within the constraints of an existing building. Also I was able to sit in and contribute during office meetings and meetings with other parts of the design team. This helped me understand the processes involved at the design phase of a building. Projects that I worked on were, 423 Oxford Street, 419 New Cross Road, Secret Garden House in Goytre and Cardiff Coal Exchange.
The Robert Gordon University, MArch, Architecture
I have been part of the Robert Gordon University Rugby Team for nearly 3 years.
Currently a member of Architentions, a group of Architecture Students from every stage that get together every week to compete in International Design Competitions.
Another Architecture Group I am involved in is Northern Collective. At the moment we are working on a live build project for the courtyard at The Scott Sutherland School of Architecture. With this project we will work through the RIBA Plan of Work from Stage A to L which will be a huge chance for experience.
