RMJM was awarded the commission to design the Beijing National Convention Centre, a key venue in the 2008 Olympic games.
RMJM's commission not only involved the design of the 270,000 m Convention Centre but also the master planning of the 12.2-hectare site and the design of world-class hotel-retail and commercial facilities.
The Convention Centre itself is located at the heart of the Olympic Boulevard. It is constructed to stage indoor Olympic events such as fencing and pistol shooting and also serves as the principal press center for the games, providing facilities for the world's media including broadcast studios.
