In my final year at Kansas State University I was involved in a Design+Make studio. Our project was to create a public park and pool master plan for a neighboring town. The first semester was used as a competition between the studio teams to analyze, design, and present to the clients. The second was to construct the final product. The end result was a shade structure that was to be used by the patrons of the pool. All work was done by the studio including: fundraising, budgeting, researching, contacting suppliers, prototypes, welding, shipping (to and from galvanizing and site), demo work, concrete work, installing chainlink fence, and physical construction.
