5K Ranch

This mountain home sits atop a rise on the western slopes of the Continental Divide with expansive views across ranch land to distant peaks. Sited on 600 acres, the house and its associated complex of outbuildings are low slung, cheating the wind and creating a protected compound that serves as a buffer against the challenging climate. Energy self-sufficient, the house is organized as an H-scheme, designed with a set of small, protected courtyards and clad in vertical wood siding which is set on an earth-colored stone base, grounding it to the landscape.
