My thesis project was the restoration of a residential building built in the Sixties near Milan.  This project, developed together with two colleagues, wants to demonstrate how, just acting on the shell of a building, you can improve architectural, energetical and structural aspects.

So, we just added a new level on the roof and new winter gardens on the south facade, and improved thermal capacity using EPS on existing walls. We also added some heated spaces, that allowed to improve energetical aspects and also to improve internal comfort.

Also for the structural needs we acted on the external, adding new steel columns, a concrete plate to support the new level and new steel elements to react to the wind and the earthquake.
