Workopolis and Monster – move over! There's a new online resume builder in town, and the immediate "what you see is what you get" feedback on that posted resume is way above what the supposed competition does.
Resume Posted or Uploaded is Exactly as Written – No Upside Down Question Marks
Although in its beta stage, Indeed.com has now offered an online resume service. No big deal right? Yes, it IS a big deal. For all those frustrated job seekers who post on Workopolis and Monster, only to find the time and effort spent on making the resume just a little bit different than the standard cookie-cutter template, is all for naught – take heart! Indeed's new expert cv writing service allows users to control and see/post exactly what potential employers see.
No more guessing, no more editing out those apostrophes that become upside down question marks; no more embarrassment when at an interview and you're questioned on why you let your resume look so horrible (and you're shown the offending document as it printed off on the employer's printer).
Easy Sign Up and Use of Service
Once you've signed up (just need an email address, create a password, then submit and of course click on the eventual confirmation email – no personal information extracted whether wanted or not) you can load or create a resume – and it posts immediately online for you to verify, change, correct, etc. The resume is hidden until you decide to unhide it. But you can actually see what the potential employer sees. How? The resume is posted online with a unique url. And the option to download into a PDF file.
So, instead of taking a chance on how the resume will look, you can include this url on cover letters or in online job applications – even when using competitor job sites.
In addition, Indeed is working on an application to allow users to apply to jobs with just one click. Not sure at this point though if this means only through certain sites, or for any job found on an Indeed job search.
Looking for Feedback on Service
According to Mike Werch, Marketing Associate, Indeed looks forward to hearing "job seeker feedback as we add new ways to use Indeed Resume. Additional details on the launch are available on Indeed's blog."
For purposes of testing, a resume was created using test information and an email specifically used for these kind of situations. Check out the result at BetaResume and notice the use of a varying time line without the usual error message, as well as the use of apostrophes without having to type over (really!).
