I coordinate the architectural design for Nuclear projects with other disciplines, such as civil, structural, HVAC, fire protection, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing. I develop and interpret the design basis criteria and work on architectural designs to meet the functional requirements of each project. Additionally, I modify and adapt existing architectural design features to meet a variety of situations and emerging design trends.
Presenting architectural design recommendations and proposals to staff and clients is an essential aspect of my role. I am actively involved in preparing 3D design models, preliminary and final construction documents, as well as specification sections for buildings and equipment enclosures. Conducting code and life safety analysis for complex architectural designs is an integral part of my responsibilities. I also develop safety reference drawings to support the analysis, ensuring that our projects adhere to the highest safety standards.
Energy code analysis is another crucial task that I undertake to ensure that the architectural drawings and details associated with the building envelope are consistent with or exceed code requirements. I utilize appropriate details to ensure an energy-efficient building envelope, contributing to sustainable designs.
In addition to my architectural duties, I thoroughly review and coordinate vendor submittals to ensure conformity with our construction documents, ensuring smooth project execution.
