Located in the heart of Paterson, NJ, Living Water Church is a non-denominational Christian church, whose mission is to create an authentic community of believers who gather around the presence of God. The church strives to build a resting place where believers can come as they are.
The building is approximately 45,000 sq. ft. and was previously used as a factory mill. The design intent was to create a sense of restoration by reclaiming the existing building materials, such as wood, exposed bricks, and steel. Because this is a church, I was inspired by the design principles of religious buildings (i.e. symmetry, height, repetition) and incorporating it with industrial elements which speaks to the building's history.
