The design of this laboratory centers around the dichotomies of real/imaginary and true/false. Four design elements help to accomplish this: the oblique, the ruled surface, the uncanny valley, and the Boolean. These elements all contain some aspect of true or false and help to create programmatic divisions between public and private, and false and true, respectively. The ‘false program’ is on display to the public--people can visit the center and see the benevolent robots being designed inside. The true program is underground, devoted to developing lethal autonomous weapons.
