Since 1982, Raymond Jungles, Inc. (RJI), under the leadership of Raymond Jungles, has developed a dynamic practice inspired by the ethic of stewardship of the land. The firm’s work is innovative yet timeless, proposing design solutions that respond to surrounding natural systems while restoring nature’s balance and harmony on a micro-scale. RJI’s completed gardens personify timelessness and beauty, with verdant spaces that entice participation and soothe the psyche.
The firm’s design priorities are generated by the scale and functionality of a space. Hardscape elements—simple, clean and well-detailed—are the bones of a garden. Planting volumes vary and bold colors and textures are used with intent. The firm is guided by Raymond’s personal and design principles—integrity, relevance and honoring nature. The firm’s informed designs tread lightly on the land, provide habitat and incorporate elements of surprise.
Major projects include the design and transformation of the 1100 block of Miami Beach’s iconic Lincoln Road Mall into an Everglades-inspired “urban glade”, the design of the bold and botanically-rich Brazilian Garden in Naples, Florida; the lush grounds of the historic Golden Rock Inn on the island of Nevis; the rooftop garden of Frank Gehry’s New World Symphony; the beachfront gardens of the Soho Beach House; the gardens of the Faena District Miami Beach, a new enclave that will be an iconic, international and cultural nexus.
