HOLE IN THE WALL | mumbai, india
In 2022, we began carving this small, quaint home office in the heart of Bandra in Mumbai.
The office was imagined as a single homogenous space, with monotone subtlety on the floor as a harmony of natural textures and perfect imperfection.
Originally a dimly lit space, it has been transformed by puncturing a big hole in the wall, allowing natural light to flood the space. Large teak windows with clear and fluted glass, flanked on two sides of the office, creates a relationship with the greens outside while offering privacy when required.
A large, striped tile pattern in beige and brown monotones envelops the floor and a hand-textured paint engulfs the walls, soft corners, junctions and ceiling, creating an entirely seamlesshell. The built-in storage units have been made in reclaimed teak wood and rattan accents. The work desk is a bespoke piece crafted in teak wood and topped with a matte black surface.
We aimed to create a space that draws you to pause, reflect, and resist the maniacal pace of our times.
