My name is Janahvi Ramakrishnan and I am an M.Arch grad from Penn State with a bachelor's background in Civil Engg from India. I am design professional looking for full-time opportunities in the field of Architecture.
I earned a bachelors degree in Civil Engineering in 2012 from India after which I started my Masters program in Civil Engineering at Penn State. Over the course of the first year, I realised that my interests and passion were strongly tied to Architecture, following which I started the M.Arch program in August 2013. My coursework at Penn State has introduced me to a good mix of projects ranging from micro housing, commercial and historical projects all of which have contributed to my skills. I am highly proficient in Revit, AutoCAD, Illustrator, InDesign, Rhino and Photoshop that I possess a good working knowledge of. I have had experience in drafting construction documents on AutoCAD and I have made significant contributions to the projects in several phases of design, documentation, diagramming, project presentations as well 3D study models.
As a design professional with an engineering background, I am able to bring several areas of competencies to projects. I believe that my background in civil engineering adds value to my understanding of architecture.

Developed toilet layouts for Dr. A.P.J.Abdul Kalam Science City from schematic phase using AutoCAD and Excel data sheets. Performed feasibility study for Shell Petrol Stations and executed FF&E for a small-scale non-profit project. Assisted the team presentation materials for a competition entry and produced presentation materials for design review presentations using Adobe Suite.

Contributed primarily to the design and drawings of a student residence hall project for Christopher Newport University from Schematic through Design Development phase using building codes on Revit and AutoCAD. Worked with a team of Interior designers and contractors to execute residential renovation projects. Assisted the team with client meetings, cost estimates and material selections.

Worked and assisted on multiple projects within the office. Primary assignments included drafting design drawings in AutoCAD for a renovation project with New York School Construction Authority. Also assisted the team in developing a construction staging plan and relevant diagrams for housing sites in Coney Island with New York City Housing Authority. Other duties included preparing transmittals, project presentations and assistance in printing, scanning and report deliveries.

Primary duties included assisting the team in drafting construction documents for the renovation of The Humming Tree, a popular rooftop music venue and restaurant. Drafted existing conditions in AutoCAD and analyzed possible seating arrangements for future expansion and additions through diagrams. Other duties included preparing furniture inventories, site survey and printing construction documents.
