COLUMBIA, SC - August 8, 2013 - Quackenbush Architects + Planners is proud to welcome Katherine Lanni to the firm as intern architect.

A graduate of the School of Architecture and Design at Virginia Tech, where she received her Master of Architecture, Lanni was awarded the Winston-Salem (N.C.) Arts Council’s Scholarship for Urban Design, which recognized her proposal to develop a theatre, dance center, hotel and amphitheater. Her design was cited for its creativity, comprehensiveness, and urban awareness.

As a key component of her architectural studies at Virginia Tech, Lanni completed a variety of projects ranging in scale and purpose from an intimate residence to a complex masterplan.  The numerous drawings Lanni composed while completing her thesis reflect the School of Architecture and Design’s emphasis on craft and care in design.  Her education was further enhanced by a number of independent endeavors in graphic design, an interest she pursued through design exhibits and employment within the School.

She received her Bachelor of Arts in Chemistry at Clemson University, where she was a Presidential Scholar, a Palmetto Fellow, and an honors graduate.

“We’re excited to have Kate join our team,” says Doug Quackenbush, President of Quackenbush Architects + Planners. “She is very bright and talented, and her special drawing skills and creativity enhance the diversity of our team.”
