The Golden Plains Community Hospital in Borger, Texas has been awarded the Excellence - Merit Award from the Central Texas Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC). The Owner, Architect, and Contractor were presented with a Cast Bronze Eagle in commemoration of the award in February of 2012.
The Owner, The Hutchinson County Hospital District, initiated design of the replacement hospital in October of 2007. The Architect, ProjX LLC of Nashville, Tennessee, spent the better part of two years carefully planning and budgeting the project as the Owner, being a public entity, required a full and formal bidding.
The project was bid and JE Dunn was awarded the project. The contract price came in 18% under budget which allowed immediate mobilization. JE Dunn assigned a team to work closely with the Architect and Owner to deliver the project on time and within the bid price. Once the Hospital CEO, Dennis Jack, announced the formal ground breaking in January 2010, the entire team mobilized to complete the 76,000+ square feet state-of-the-art Critical Access Hospital. The Hospital was constructed in a short 11 months through careful teamwork and open and rapid lines of communication, including online collaboration through a proprietary project management software. The final construction price for delivering the hospital was just under $199 per square foot, another notable number.
