I am Prasanna S Chafekar, an architecture professional from Mumbai (India) with over ten years experience working in Indian Firms.
I had the opportunity to work on over 50 projects including individual residences, apartments, institutional, hospital, commercial, office buildings as well as interiors.
My role as an Architect in projects included concept development, designing, working and consulting with structural engineers, however I have also had the opportunity in contributing in areas such as structural and design details.
In the year 2007-08, I worked as an external guide for teaching Basic Design in Sir J.J. College of Architecture while working as an independent Architect and designing small scale projects.
As a student I have studied at respected institutions like the Staedelschule Architecture Class, Frankfurt (Main), Germany and the Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Mumbai, India. Here, I received guidance from learned professors and architects who challenged and sharpened my skills as an architect. I received positive reviews for my Masters thesis titled ‘Multi-directional spaces of transition’ which explored the relationship between built vistas and movement in space. The design was meant for a mix-use media village to be constructed for the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics. In my Bachelors Project titled ‘Slum Transformation through Economic Progress’, I gave an alternative design for urban transit housing beneath a flyover for socio-economically marginalized communities in Mumbai.
