The new Brooks Library at Norfolk State University is conceived as a student-focused facility that will become the new heart of the campus. The building is positioned to create two new quadrangles to the East and West. A new clock tower will serve as the campus focal point. The 132,000 sf (12,263 sm) building includes a 3-story round rotunda lobby, the circulation desk, 24/7 Internet café, staff offices, as well as other functional spaces. The library’s interior is designed as a lively, activated and inviting space that will accommodate the University’s growing population. The building design team is pursuing Silver level LEED certification, as sustainability practices have been of utmost importance throughout the design and construction process.
