Interior Design Magazine ranked Populous 6th overall in the 33rd running of the annual Hospitality Giants list, which orders the top firms from the publication’s Top 100 Giants list based on each company’s work in the hospitality sector. Populous’ top-ten position in this list is the highest in firm history and reflects the ever-growing focus on hospitality at the firm, from convention centers to sports stadiums. As a percentage of total design firm revenue, hospitality fees have risen 40 percent in the last year alone.
“Hospitality design isn’t just about functional, beautiful finishes and furniture. It’s about creating an experience and an environment that guests will love and remember long after they leave,” said Wesley Crosby, director of interior design at Populous. “Whether it is a restaurant, a premium sports venue club, a convention center or a retail space – we look at the project from the inside out and put human experience at the forefront of our design thinking.”
Over the last 35 years, Populous has created innovative hospitality solutions for a wide range of building types across the globe. The firm’s award-winning interiors work includes Churchill Downs’ new Starting Gate Suites, which recently received Gold in the Sports & Recreation category of the 2018 IIDA Mid-America Design Awards and T-Mobile Arena which won the Suites category of the 2017 ALSD Spotlight Awards.
