This project is about selecting a project/building in Boston and study the site's Storm water run-off rate and propose mitigation strategies for it to control the storm water run-off rate and treat the water from first flush going to the Charles. Aim is to lower the run off rate by implementation of sustainable designs in the selected project/building.
In this design, it was assumed that 70% of the storm water is treated by the green roof and for the remaining 30%, a bio-swale is designed that satisfies the requirements for treatment.
This leads to slower storm water run-off. Also, cleaner and lesser amount of water goes to the river which prevents pollution and flood risks in the river.
