Within the historic centre of the small town of Arrigorriaga, Biscay (Spain), two sisters decide to rethink and add an extension to their pharmacy. Amaya and Beatriz do a bet for a larger and more flexible public area while improving the clarity and organization of their product exhibition.
The project achieves a large central space which is defined in height by a continuous texture made of plywood studs. Not only they give scale to the main space, but they also help attenuate sunlight from the facade and solves privacy for the office situated on the upper ground floor level. There is a distinctive area for dermo-cosmetics with its specific counter area.
“Before doing the revamp, our customers were still, waiting in line, on the verge of losing their patience. What I like the most about my new pharmacy is that circulation and distribution are improved and people are exploring rather than just waiting.” Amaya Labayru, Owner.
The fit-out looks for a balance between customary furniture occupying the perimeter and mobile elements that provide flexibility and variations amid the central area, allowing different typologies of exhibition podiums.
