PIER COMPETITOR EXPANDS ARCHITECTURAL FIRM
On September 12, 2011 Tim Clemmons of Clemmons Architecture and Jovica Milic of Mesh LLC merged their St. Petersburg design firms to create Mesh Architecture in order to enhance both their capabilities and opportunities. For their first project Mesh Architecture is partnering with BIG, a Copenhagen and New York City based architectural studio, as one of three finalists in the competition to design the new St. Petersburg Pier.
“Jo and I have collaborated on several projects during the last few years and over time came to realize not only do we share a similar design philosophy but we also have the same vision for an architectural studio committed to modern, sustainable architecture and capable of pursuing significant projects in the Tampa Bay area and beyond,” stated Tim Clemmons. “By joining forces we now have the people and resources to successfully carry out much larger architectural challenges; and we can’t imagine a more ideal first opportunity than teaming up with BIG on the St. Pete Pier competition.”
Tim Clemmons, AIA has been a prominent architect and active participant in Tampa Bay urban redevelopment issues for over 20 years. Jovica Milic created a successful business that combines high-quality architectural design with custom fabrication. Jenny Miers, AIA, previously an associate with Mesh LLC, will join Tim and Jovica as Design Principals for the new firm. With a total of seven professionals with Masters of Architecture degrees, Mesh Architecture has the capabilities and experience to service projects of all types and scales. Gary Grooms, with over 35 years of varied management experience, is Chief Operating Officer.
Currently Mesh Architecture is working on projects throughout the Tampa Bay area as well as Miami and North Carolina. Notable past projects by the two predecessor firms include Z Grille Restaurant (the first project on which Tim and Jovica collaborated), 475 Condominiums and St. Petersburg Arts Center all in St. Petersburg, as well as Aurora Corporate Headquarters in Clearwater, and Seybold Lofts in Tampa. In addition to work in the United States, Mesh has also successfully completed several design/build projects in Europe and Asia.
With the creation of Mesh Architecture, Jovica (as Founding Director) and Gary (as Chief Operating Officer) have re-organized Mesh LLC as Mesh Fabrication. Mesh Fabrication focuses on the construction and installation of custom millwork and architectural elements. With over 25 craftsmen and 20,000 square feet of state-of-the-art workshop space, Mesh Fabrication is fully capable in wood, metal and other unique building materials. Besides working closely with Mesh Architecture, Mesh Fabrication frequently collaborates with a number of creative designers, contractors, and property owners.
