About

I am a designer with a passion for the thoughtful creation of objects which seek to aid in the actualization of a sustainable human future, and which operate responsibly with respect to shifting societal, environmental, and economic conditions influencing the evolution of our modern world. Designers have the ability, and the obligation, to create objects that strive to establish a sense of place, promote a sense of community, and reduce the negative impacts ‘traditional’ practices impose on the health of individuals and natural environments, all while continuing to match building performance to suit a client's needs.

In 2009 I earned a Bachelor's of Architecture from the College of Arts and Architecture at UNC Charlotte, and also awarded the SoA's 'Excellence in Critical Exploration' Book Award for a 5th-year CAP study focused on issues of adaptive-reuse and urban infill/brownfield re-development of a historic textile mill in Asheville NC's historic River Arts District. Since graduation, I have involved myself in various roles as a subcontracted designer and craftsman, attained LEED GA credential, and initiated a ‘self-taught’ education in building and landscape photography.

I have professional experience in many aspects of architectural design and construction, which include conceptual & climate responsive design, construction documentation, rendering & 3D modeling, framing, carpentry, weatherization, custom metal-work & copper roofing, with personal experience in furniture making, graphic design, and permaculture site design.

Though currently practicing as a freelance designer, I am constantly seeking to broaden my knowledge and understanding of architectural design, urban planning, permaculture site design, and building craft, and am currently pursuing an architectural internship or entry-level design position with a licensed architectural firm, design-build firm, urban planning/community-oriented development firm, or other creative, design-based endeavors.
