The mediatheque is a response to maintain an urban edge, between a commercial downtown and a quiet neighborhood. To mediate the differences, two main levels are proposed. The first on grade with main street extends the downtown into the building. The lower level then becomes a library, oriented towards the surrounding neighborhood. An atrium provides light but also creates a barrier between the
programs.
