Untitled (10 Miles of String) was the end result of an heuristic process to find a random order within an organized framework, resulting in the insertion of a divergent organic structure within a former tank factory, then the confines of the Preston Workshop Gallery Space. The piece is a meditation on contrast, some fundamental, some specific, providing a visual and tactile foil between what is the ‘every day’ and what is the extraordinary, while also offering a concurrent narrative that explores the meaning of labor at its most elemental. This was my second installation at Preston Workshop, a collaboration with local artist and designer, David Culloty.
